OR or THAN

Do these both work?

What is the difference?

Would rather have lost your bag or your computer?

Would you rather have lost your bag than your computer?

Would you rather have stayed home or gone to work?

WOuld you rather have stayed home than gone to work?

Does the following sentence mean that you lost your computer or could it be a "if" sentence?

I would rather have lost my bag than my computer.

Does this mean you went to work?

I would rather have stayed home than gone to work.

Thank you

There are some musty old arguments about what word class 'than' might be, but these are OK and synonymous: Would you rather have lost your bag than your computer? Would you rather have stayed home or gone to work? WOuld you rather have stayed home than gone to work?

Is this correct? To me it means this:

Would you rather have lost your bag than your computer? This means you lost your computer.

Would you rather have lost your bag or your computer? This is asking the question if you had had to choose between losing X or Y which would you rather have lost?
Would you rather have stayed home or gone to work? This is ask

To me the first 2 mean the same, as do the second 2. Of course, they could be read the other way as well.
