Optimistic and tolerant

This two tone is quite same in my language. So,when I take a test which has these two word exist, I can't answer it.

It's not the greatest car in the world, but it usually takes me where I have to go.

Even though the car has a problem now and then, I bet it'll keep running forever.

What is a writer attitude In each sentence?
And, can you give me some example statement that help me get the idea of those two word?
