Hi, I am not sure how to use 'to opt'. Example: 'One may opt for finding new friends or keeping the old ones.' 'One may opt to find new friends or keep the old ones.' Greetings

Both are correct grammar, but remove 'the'. However, in terms of meaning, I don't see why you can't have both old friends and new friends. Clive
