Opinion essay

Can theater be attractive to young people? Take availability and repertoire into consideration. Can you check my essay and correct mistakes ?

Theatre has been a popular form of entertainment for many years. However, plenty of people regard it as a dull, appropriate only for older audiences activity. They associate it with Shakespeare or Homer, which I believe is a stereotype. The theatre has evolved over time, and it can be entertaining to young people because of its' contemporary repertoire and widespread availability.

To begin with, a great number of people believe that the repertoire in theatres is old-fashioned, boring and monotonous. However, when we look into the topic, it turns out that the cultural offer in Poland is at the highest level and the repertoire is full of modern plays intended especially for young audiences. Strange as it may sound, the theatre has a wide appeal among teenagers. Another intriguing fact is that different plays are adapted from such engaging books as “ crime and punishment”. For that reason, I am of the opinion that theatrical productions can be captivating to younger generations. When it comes to accessibility, it should be emphasized that theatres are located all over Poland. Even so, some people believe that if you live in a small town, you don’t have access to a theatre. This is not true since approximately 90 percent of towns have access to theatrical productions. Therefore, This proves not to be a problem. Secondly, the countries in Western Europe receive extensive fundings from the European Union and, by extension, this allows the theatre industry to be further developed. Summing up, I am deeply convinced that the repertoire offered by theatres is suitable for teenagers and the availability doesn't pose a problem. To my mind, theatre does play a role in teenagers' lives and it would be hard to deny the fact that more and more young people are going to be interested in this form of entertainment.
