Essay question
In recent years, many small local shops have closed because customers travel to large shopping centres or malls to do their shopping. Is it positive or negative development.
It is observed that recently consumers prefer to do shopping in colossal shopping arcades rather than petty local stores. As a result, closure of numerous localized shops are being noticed. In my opinion, I strongly believed that it is a welcoming and favourable trend because it will be advantageous for patrons to buy in a cost effective and time saving manner.
To begin with, large shopping complexes offer different vendors under a single roof and provide spectrum of products. Due to busy schedule, people in cities want to spend less time on shopping and go on a shopping free. So, malls provides single platform for purchasing. In other words, it allows one-stop shopping and saves valuable time. Furthermore, shopping centres offers shopping as well as entertainment facilities such as food court, cinemas and play zones which ameliorate people's shopping experience and let them enjoy more. A recent survey showed that 80% people opt for the biggest mall of Asia "The Lucky one mall" in Karachi because it offers all those amenities under the same building and saves their time. Therefore, it cannot be rendered by small businesses.
In addition, large shopping centres enable customers to alleviate the travelling fare and fuel consumption because they do not have to travel wandering from one shop to another distant shop. For instance, I prefer to buy clothes, jewelleries and shoes from Dolmen mall Karachi because I cannot sqaunder money on travelling to different shops due to average income. Therefore, it helps to save money.
In conclusion, I completely agree that the constructive steps for development of large shopping malls by replacing small shops are beneficial in terms of less time consumption and affordability.
