ESSAY QUESTION:
Some people say that it is possible to tell a lot about a person's culture and character from their choice of clothes
Do you agree or disagree
It is believed by some that people can judge customs and virtues by observing an individual's way of dressing and how he/she is opting for outfits. I partially agree to this statement because there is a chance that people's assumption about others custom on the basis of costumes can be accurate however morality has nothing to do with clothing. We can correlate it with self intention and upbringing of people.
To start with, nowadays movies and dramas are promoting the culture of many countries. In others words, due to these promotions people are getting awareness about traditional clothing of many countries. For example, it is common practice among Muslim women to wear veil and black loose fitted cloak so it can be anticipated that they belong to Muslim countries. The same case goes with the western culture where they wear shirts,tops and jeans casually. Therefore, these sort of observations related to clothing make judgement accurate about others custom.
However, sometimes dressing can create false impressions and it cannot guarantee about the characteristics someone being equipped with. Character of a person can only be revealed by their brought up and self thoughts. An example of this is that some imposters donning sacred robes and religious symbols but they may defraud innocent followers. Therefore, we cannot see through true intentions thorugh the way other dress up.
To sum up,in my opinion clothing helps to analyze cultural background ,however character is dependent on positive attributes.
