Essay question:

New stories on TV and in newspapers are very often accompanied by pictures. Some people say that these pictures are more effective than words. What is your opinion about this?

Nowadays latest stories along with pictorial representations frequently appear on broadcast media and on print media. It is observed by some that images play an important and efficient role in grabbing more attention of readers and viewers than the written content of the story. I strongly agree with this statement and the main reasons are images help to predict the theme behind the story at a glance and the colourful pictures are always appealing to the human eyes.

To begin with, the TV watchers and readers always want to spent time on the content which they are most interested in People sort out and try skipping least interested stories. Images help them to anticipate and select the stories according to their interests which can save their time as well. For instance, once I was going through the articles on National geographic magazine and I was not sure which page needs to be selected as there were plethora of articles on different topics then all of a sudden one article caught my attention because it contained the picture of a cat. If at that time I read few lines of every article in order to find the interested topic then I would have wasted my time completely because cat is the only animal that I like the most and always want to research on different breeds of cat , and therefore , pictures helped me in picking the best article of my interest.

Furthermore, most of the times a colourful image can be alluring. Anything can become interesting with the essence of colours. For example, according to the survey done by research team in Pakistan mass communication students , it has found that 60% of people judge things on visual basis. Take the example of one of my friends kid, he got attracted by the colourful images of stories which helped him in developing the habit of article reading. Thus , images makes stories more attractive to human eyes which words can not do it alone and help them to increase knowledge.

In conclusion, images play a vital part in every articles,stories and news. In my opinion representation of written content via pictures can make it more worthy and interesting.
