Opined

Why are you supposed to say opined rather than opinioned? As in, he opinioned that the matter was trivial.
Also, is opining a real word? I hope not.

Top answer

[/nq] Because "opine" is the verb, and "opinion" is the noun. [/nq] That unnecessarily verbs the noun. [nq:1]Also, is opining a real word?

I gather you are too poor to own a dictionary, but since you do have Internet access I suggest you consult one of the on-line dictionaris, where you will find that "opine" is a verb and consequently "opining" is one of its inflections.

[nq:1]It's like view/viewing/viewed, with the related noun "vision" do you prefer "visioned" over "viewed"?[/nq]
There is a style of business-speak that frequently verbs such nouns as "action" and "leverage", in despite of the simple verbs from which they're derived; I wouldn't be surprised to see either "visioned" or "opinioned" in such writing. Not that I'd recommend such usages in any piece

Well, no wonder. "Dictionaris" is the plural. The singular is "dictionari."
