'operations'?

Hi,

I'm translating a book on leadership in this time of economic slowdown, and it tells what leaders in all functions of a company should do (such as finance, marketing, sales,... - each chapter tells about new tasks of a leader). One of the chapters reads 'Making it all work: operations'. I wonder if 'operations' here means the function in a company which is responsible for..., say, producing products.

Thank you very much,

Nessie.

If they make a product, then yes. If they provide a service, then it's the people who provide a service. Whatever the operations people do, it's how the revenue comes into the company.
