Operating margins or margin?

I've been writing financial reports for a long time and could never understand why we always use the plural form of margin. Any guesses?

thanks for your quick reply. I was talking about financial reports that investment banks put out.

I once used "EBITDA margin" but soon realized that everyone else was writing "EBITDA margins."

Am I wrong?
