Dear Enoon;
I put the sentence it the text. I hope it helps me to clarify my question.

The reading is about Tidal Power. It states that the tidal power could be used to generate electrical enery, providing several advantage of the usage. The professor, however, openly refults all reasons provided in the passage respectively.

Regards.

Thank you.

I would not use either word. (I try to use adverbs only when they are necessary, anyway.) Maybe "roundly refutes" or "thoroughly refutes".
