1. You can open the door.

2. You can close the door.

3.The door is opened.
4.The door is closed.

5.The new building was opened in 2001.

I am not sure whether the last 3 sentences are correct.

So both of the above are fine.

Yes. The first is most common when describing the door. The second one can be used that way too.

But the second one is also used to say that someone opens the door, describing the event of opening the door, thus: The door is opened at 7 eve

Some years ago I learnt the word open is special when it comes to 'opening the door'.
