On/Under ... Power

"The submarines operates on/under nuclear power."
"The car runs on/under electric power."
"The ship sails on/under wind power."

So, is it "on" or "under"?

Perhaps you're thinking of expressions like, "The submarine got there under its own power."

I think "under" might be used when there are options.
When we ran out of gas, we completed the voyage under wind power. ("On" would also work here.)

I wouldn't say so.

In your original examples, "This submarine runs on atomic power" would be the only choice.

I think "on" is always correct, and "under" is acceptable in limited circumstances.
