Onto vs onto

Hi there,

I would be ever so grateful if you could tell me whether the below use of on to as opposed to onto is correct:

The study goes on to say that...

Bob goes on to say that...

Bob goes on to explain that...

I would also be grateful if you could explain the reasoning behind whether I am correct or not.
