Onto vs Into/ In?

Hi everyone!

Could you tell me why "onto" and not "Into" or "In" is used in the following context?

"The address number is put onto the address bus."
"The CPU puts the adress onto the address bus."

Would the other two possibilities be just as fine?

Why do we use "into" in the following case?

"A program is read from disk into memory."

Thanks a lot!

Mara.
