Only in his dream does he give expression to his fears.

Hi

Could you please tell me what this sentnece means (although there is no difficult word in it)?

Only in his dream does he give expression to his fears.

Does it mean that he is a brave man and can only be frightened in his dreams.

Thanks,

Tom

I would say that he has deep-seated fears and cannot express them while he is awake. It is strange that "dream" is singular here. Normally it would be plural.
