1. There are only a limited number of tickets available.

2. Only five people turned up.

#1 and #2 are the example sentences given by my dictionary under the category of "only's" adverb use.

Q) They look like an adjective modifying the noun "a limited number of tickets(in #1) and "five people(in #2) in each sentence.
