"Some" is very broad in meaning. "A few" indicates not very many.

A few is used for countables and means "Some", "not many".

How many eggs have we got?

Only a few (This means these are sufficient)

Hi guys,

How many eggs have we got?

Only a few (This means these are sufficient) No. It means 'only a small number'. It doesn't tell us about sufficiency. For that meaning, you could say something like
'Not enough'.

Best wishes, Clive
