Vocabulary

ongoing/going on

Hello,
Can we say: "The investigation that started two and a half years ago is still ongoing/going on"? Ongoing suggests to me that it started a while ago and is still in progress. As for "go on", my feelings are mixed. Emotion: big smile It is probably too colloquial for this context.

Thank you
