On/for

The meeting is scheduled for 4th September.I think using "for" is the right thing but I've seen people writing "on" like: The meeting is scheduled on 4 th September. Is it OK to write "on"?

Hi,

They mean different things. "The meeting was scheduled for the 14th of September" means the meeting will be held on that date. "The meeting was scheduled on the 14th of September" means that was the date the meeting added to the schedule, not the day of the meeting, i.e. "The meeting was scheduled on the 14th of September for the 20th of September".

Hi,

I agree with your interpretation of 'was scheduled', but the original sentence was

'The meeting is scheduled on 4 th September'.

Best wishes, Clive
