One word for the sentence

Say in a train if some people are sintting on the seat and there is space for one more passenger then what the passenger is supposed to ask to the passengers already sitting- Please move a little bit or what?

Also what should be the correct word in this sentence- The passage is vacant or The passage is empty?

For the second part of your question,empty goes with the passage.But for seat, vacant and empty are both acceptable.
