Dear all, I don’t understand the meaning of "even for merriment or division", in the following sentence. Could you explain them to me? Thank you. People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment or division, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public or in some contrivance to raise prices. Thnaks again.
