One / those

Should I use “one / those” in these sentences?

1. The climate there is as hot as one here.

2. The houses in this street are as expensive as those in that street.

I would use 'the one here' and 'the ones in that street'. I'm not fond of "the ones", but it seems to fit best here. 'those' + 'that' so close together seems awkward.
