Vocabulary

One simple question. Thanks.

Dear all,

Could you help me with one question? I am not sure the meaning of the word "level" in the following sentence. Thank you for your help.

No one is sure what the result of rising temperatures and sea levels will be. They may include increased flooding. It may become harder to find fresh water as salt water affects the level of water underground.

Thanks.
