One sentence, does it sound natural?

Can you tell me if this makes sense and if it sounds natural?

- It's so typical of the french to give a name to their soon to be conceived children. The wife isn't pregnant yet but still talks about the baby as if it was on the way.

Thank you

I hear things like this, Alex. " I can't really say I liked it. " I'd use the subjunctive "as if it were on the way," but yours is fine.

I hear things like this, Alex. Some would hyphenate "soon-to-be-conceived."

I knew a guy who would say, "Let me explain something to you about this oh-so-special product of ours." I can't really say I liked it.

Don't forget to capitalize "French."
