One sentence - ambiguity

"Epitomizing biophilic design, The New Centre For Social Sustainability evokes humans’ biological affintity for nature to create a subconscious connection to the space and all its inhabitants."

I feel as though the last part of this sentence is unclear. What I want to say is that this type of design evokes human's affinity for nature, which creates a subconscious connection between humans, the space, and all other inhabitants.

But does the original sentence confuse the sentence as to what is being connected?

Also, do you think the word 'epitomizing' should be replaced with something like 'as a'?

CliveDoes 'its inhabitants' mean 'the people who are inside the Centre?
It includes humans as well as plants.

Regarding my original question around ambiguity, the intended meaning is below. However, I don't want to include the underlined words, but feel it is ambiguous without these underlined words.

English 1b3But does the original sentence confuse the sentence? (reader?) as to what is being connected?
Not exactly. My confusion, in particular, is centered around "the space". At first I thought it could be a typo for "space", as in "outer space", which really confused me. I think you mean the space interior to The New Centre, but I'm still not sure.

Please clarify.
Do you mean that there is a subconscious connection between people outside the Centre and the people (and all other life forms) inside the Centre? And that all these entities are also connected to the space inside the Centre?

Hi Clive,

Thanks for your help on this.

Your interpretation is incorrect.

The building has plants growing in the building and one big tree that stands right in the center.

Due to the interior design of the building, human's have a subconscious connection to the space and all its inhabitants (plants and trees).

I hope that helps.

It's misleading to call plants and trees 'inhabitants'. The term implies people, or at least animals.

It's much more natural to refer to people, not humans.

So the people involved in this are some (or all) of the people outside the

Ok, thanks for your help.
CliveSo the people involved in this are some (or all) of the people outside the Centre? eg everyone on the world?
No. Essentially, this is a concept statement that an Interior Designer would provide a client to explain what the Interior Designer would like to do with the space.

With this particular center, the aim is to make p

I don't think I want to spend more time on this. I hope you understand.

Your original query was about whether the statement caused confusion, and it seems evident that it did.

Designers' statements are often a touch airy-fairy.
