This workshop is dedicated to studying technology in different sectors of societal life in the socialist and post-socialist context. Previously technological advances have been analysed mostly in the economic sphere. Now, the topic is to be discussed in a broader perspective including social and cultural spheres in addition to the field of science. We explore also East-West interaction during the Cold War, and investigate how Western actors functioned in the socialist arena and what impact this interaction has had for the post-Cold War period. The purpose is to develop a chain of meetings where the participants could/can continue to deepen theoretical and methodological discussions. We encourage papers related to technology in topics such as:
