one-on-one fight

Is there a word denoting a one-on-one fight? An example of the fight I mean is a typical school fight with people circled around two teenagers. So it is not like a duel, which sounds formal and Sarmatian.
In Poland we'd say 'solo' (or solówka), 'to go on a solo' (isc na solo/solówke) but I guess English doesn't allow that meaning of this word.

Even the word, "duel" can be used to represent a match between two teams.
