"One of you is" or "One of you are" .Which is correct?

Though people say that the first is expression is grammatically correct, the second one sounds better. Can anyone give me some examples of the first one being used in real contexts like stories or novels etc.

Tnx

I don't think the 2nd one sounds better at all; those who do are influenced by the proximal concord with 'you', which is just the object of an adjectival prepositional phrase. 'One' is the subject. 'is' is the verb.
