One of the things our appetite...

Hi

Could you please edit these lines I've tranlated from my language. Any sugestions are welcome. I am not at all confident about my choice of the bold parts.

One of the things our appetite responds to is the rattling of the dishes. Even when our mind is miles off hunger, if we happen to see someone on TV laying a table, and there's sound of spoons and forks running on plates or cups getting in contact with saucers, there is a sudden stimulating desire to eat.

Thanks a lot in advance,

Tom

PS: Any word for the sound that is produced when spoons/forks run on plates or cups getting in contact with saucers?
