one of the focus

is it correct to write "one of the focus" or it should be "one of the focuses"?

Top answer

" one of the" requires a plural noun, therefore "one of the focuses" is correct (some would insist it should be "one of the foci" but to be honest it has a "scientific" feel to it). "one of the focus" is incomplete, you would have to add some noun in order to make it work, for example: "one of the focus areas/points".
