One of a kind

Hi

Is the use of one of a kind OK here? Any suggestions please?

[RJ was the only fast food restaurant in some town for years. It had a name and monopoly. Then as time went on, many opened more and today RJ is not half as famous or well-run as it used to be.]

In 1984, RJ was the only fast food restaurant here, one of a kind.

[one of a kind = the only one and therefore famous]

Thanks,

Tom
