One more quotes..

One more please on British English-quotes please. I'm thinking that (#1 in BrEnglish) is correct though. Please don't change to reported speech please, .. thanks,

(#1.)Katherine said, 'I overheard Julian say, 'I'm divorcing Howard.'" Spaces between single-/double-ending quote marks ?
