one million dollars question

What does "one million dollars question" mean?
Is it an idiom widely understood in most countries?
In general, does anyone know if there's any website that explains
these types of phrases?

Thanks.

I think you mean "a million-dollar question". The original form, as far as I know, was "a sixty-four-thousand-dollar question", after the TV quiz show of the same name. It means a very difficult question.
