Except the ordinal 'second'. We say one half, not one second. Emotion: smile

Do you say one quarter or one fourth?

Both. Interchangeably, except with dollars and hours, for which I use "quarter."

EDITED: I'm so sorry! I wrote the wrong word. I don't know why I did that! I mean QUARTER, which I have now changed.

Did you mean you use a fourth dollar or hour? If not, could you give me some examples?

Teo, I wrote the wrong word. I have no idea why I did that, except I was watching movie while I posted and obviously wasn't paying attention. I meant quarter.

About a quarter of an hour, quarter after the hour, it costs a buck and a quarter, a quarter of a million dollars.

That means 15 minutes, X:15 is the time, $1.25, $250,000 repsectively.
