One day and a dependent clause - I think

One day he was playing in the sand when he heard his dog barking from inside.

Should there be commas after "One day" and after "sand" in that sentence? I'm thinking that "when he heard" is a dependent clause, correct?

I would certainly put a comma after one day , but I'm not so sure about after sand . One day, he was playing in the sand when he heard his dog barking from inside.

Sorry, I forgot to answer that question. When he heard his dog barking from inside is the dependent clause.

OK, so it is a dependent clause, but a comma isn't needed. Gotchya.
