One can argue

Hi!
Should I use here instead of the bolded phrase 'It is arguable that...' or perhaps something else would be more appropriate?

One can argue that it is very important to place the tube in the exact position inside pleural cavity.

Thank you

" Both "One can argue that" and "It is arguable that" are OK. In this sentence I prefer the former because it avoids repetition of "it". " I'm having difficulty understanding what "in the exact position" means.

  • If it's referring to a particular position that you've mentioned earlier then it would be better to say "in exactly this position" (provided it's clear from context what "this" means).
  • Or do you mean "exactly the correct position"?

You missed a "the":

"One can argue that it is very important to place the tube in the exact position inside the pleural cavity."

'exact position' should mean ''exactly the correct position".What then? should I change it?

Yes, I think you should change it.

I think it is better then to use 'intended position'.

"Intended position" is fine.

But... at the risk of beating this sentence to death, you're quite sure, are you, that you do mean "One can argue..."? This implies that it's not clear-cut, and that you could potentially make a case that it's not very important to place it in the intended position.

Now that you mentioned it, it doesn't have any sense. Of course it is important to place it in the intended position, I mean it's human body so I guess it is crucial to place whatever you have in the 'right', 'correct' or 'intended place' or otherwise you can end up being seriously injured. So why should anybody 'argue'? It must be some kind of a mistake. I'll check with the author.
Thank you
