Is this dialogue totally natural?

A - Any regrets?

B - One big regret is that despite her several attempt to talk to me, I couldn't see her just once. And then she passed away so unexpectedly.

I seldom hear anyone say 'despite'; it is usually 'in spite of'.

'I couldn't see her just once' sounds like 'I had to see her many times.' Try 'even once'.
