Once we learn to swim

1. Once we learn to swim, we will never forget it.

OR

Once we learn swimming, we will never forget it.

OR

Once we learn how to swim, we will never forget it.


Are all three sentences equally correct or one is preferable to others? I am not sure about #1 but other 2 seems correct.

Is there any difference b/w "learn swimming" and "learn to swim"?
