Once Usage

Hi,

Recently I was asked by my friend how did I know that it was his anniversary when I wished him on mail. Told me once about it.Although my reply was first one of the below two but still I am not sure if it is grammatically correct. Can you please suggest a correct answer .
Reply 1. You had once told me about it
Reply 2.You told me once about it.
Thanks,
Simran

Hello, Simran. Both responses are possible in conversation. Probably the most common is 'You once told me' or 'You told me before'.
