Once in their life time

It is said that they do it once in their life time.

Can I say 'once in their life times'?

I don't think we ever say.

Thanks

  • I wouldn't, but I suppose the use of lifetimes would not be technically wrong.

Hi LiJ

I think lifetimes would probably only be used to stress each of their individual lifetimes (or if someone actually worded it that way).

I just watched cnn.com and heard this sentence. That certainely should be one word 'lifetime.'
Do you mean lifetimes is not appropriate here, although it's not technically wrong?

No. If you hadn't told me, I would be using it wrongly. Thanks, Yoong Liat.Emotion: smile
