Thanks, Clive for your prompt response. Actually this sentence occurred at the end of an application. If you could please look at the application. I am posting it here:

It is stated that I have been promoted from lecturer to the post of Assistant Professor vide notification No SO(COLLEGES-II)HED/14-1/2014. In the same order I have been transferred from xyz to abc.
As abc is situated at a distance of about 100 km from my home town, xyz, therefore, It will be very difficult for me to reach the college on time and perform duty effectively.
Further stated that a post of Assistant Professor is already lying vacant at xyz. Therefore, I request you to kindly adjust me on the already available vacant post at xyz. If carried into effect, I assure you that I will perform my duty more effectively and positively.
