On Your Own & By Yourself .

Hi everybody,

1-You should do it on your own.

2-You should do it by yourself.

Could you please tell me which one's sound natural and correct; and if both were correct, what's the difference between them?

In addition, if I change the verb to other verbs such as study, write, make, give, take ...etc. Would it be affected on the correct usage?
