Saw it with Mom last night and it is as funny and touching as ever. She's a total movie buff so it was really fun - we kinda know the movie by heart and it was still totally fresh. And the music is great! I'm working on a comedy now and I'm watching all the greats - Some Like It Hot, Tootsie, and now Moonstruck. Silliness rules! And remember (you writer you) to cue more music!
Tomorrow: maybe a Marx Brothers film fest. "Hooray for Captain Spaulding..."

In a former life I was on the film junket circuit but for "Moonstruck" I got a call to go to New York alone, no junket, just me... to interview Olympia Dukakis. She was really nice. It was also the coldest day of the year that year. Insanely, brutally cold, I remember.

My niece had a baby a couple of years ago, and named her "Lydia."

Of course that immediately made me think of Lydia the Tattooed Lady.

I mentioned this and drew a blank stare.
Then I found an MP3 of it and emailed it to her.
She never did thank me.
Can't think why.

Barton Fink got written very quickly, in about three weeks. I don't know what that means.
