On top of or else?

Hi,

I am wondering if i use the right phrase. When I am in a skyscraper which has 56 floors, and I am on 40th floor. Can I say I am on top of the building looking at the night city view through the window? If not, please tell me how i should say it?

on top of the building sounds like you are on the roof.
