On this short note

Dear Friends,

One non-native friend of mine has just written to me:

"On this short note have a nice evening."

Is there such an expression as 'on this short note'? My dictionaries give no clue.

Take care,

It has an idiomatic sense, which means "hereon we finish", "well", "then (we both know we should say goodbye to each other)" with a rather soft and witty sense, which is usual before bidding farewell.

It's in my own language. I guess there is such one in English.
