On the sea or in the ocean?

Hi. Should the first sentence have the word "on" and the second sentence have the word "in" (although they are followed by a name of a sea and an ocean)? I don't know whether the sentences are correct or make sense.

1. This place is on the Mediterranean Sea.

2. This place is in the Pacific Ocean.
