On the same wavelength

Hi,
"To be on the same wavelength" and "To be on the same side of the fence" refer to a good understanding with another person, usually as a result of shared interests and attitudes.
Which of these idioms is the most popular in your country?
Or do you use other phrases with the same sense?
Many thanks for all your replies!

The first means what you say. The 2nd means merely to be defending the same position; it does not suggest the close psychological affinity that your 1st sentence does.
