On the pro-verb

A: The test tube on the lfet contains an acidic substance.

B: Excuse me, Dr. Thomas, but that really ________. It's nonacidic.

a. isn't so

b. is mistaken

c. is quite right

d. corrects me

I have thought that because the verb of this sentence The test tube on the lfet contains an acidic substance is contains, and thus "A. isn't so" is not correct. is that changed into "doesn't so" because of the verb contains? Would you please explain that to me, and can't the choice "B. is mistaken" be correct? If so, why?

P.S.

A: I'm afraid something must have happened to the collection of rare gems we're waiting for.

B: ______________.

a. They wouldn't be surprised
