I've noticed that 'the' is not frequently used in this phrase. Is it correct to use it here? Why do you usually say 'on polling day'? Is it treated like 'on Christmas Day' (=a holiday)?
Best regards, D.
Top answer
You have it right, Demi. It is the same for 'election day'. A national holiday of sorts.
